The Jim Matthew Camera Collection Trust is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, SC050024
We were set up in 2020, when the collection was in danger of dispersal, following the death of Jim Matthew.
That was of course a difficult time to be doing anything, but with the help of photography enthusiasts and local people – for whom the collection is now part of the village’s heritage – we were able to raise the money needed to purchase the collection and the building that houses it (formerly a Salvation Army hall).
The early years of our existence were ones of consolidation during the covid pandemic; then moving to regular openings as things eased; and now we are looking to develop the collection as a resource for photographers, those interested in the history of photography, and for other more general aspects of education.
We look forward to your visit. We are sure you will be impressed.
