The Jim Matthew Camera Collection Trust is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, SC050024
We were set up in 2020, when the collection was in danger of dispersal, following the death of Jim Matthew.
That was of course a difficult time to be doing anything, but with the help of photography enthusiasts and local people – for whom the collection is now part of the village’s heritage – we were able to raise the money needed to purchase the collection and the building that houses it (formerly a Salvation Army hall).
The early years of our existence have been ones of consolidation during the covid pandemic; then moving to regular openings as things eased; and now we are looking to develop the collection as a resource for photographers, those interested in the history of photography, and for other more general aspects of education.
